Valuations for CGT, IHT, SDLT and ATED purposes are based on a statutory definition of ‘market value’, which is similar to the definition used in RICS Valuation – Global Standards. However, the statutory definition has been the subject of interpretation by the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber).
